Action 22 is holding its Southern Colorado Water Summit on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at CSU-Pueblo Occhiato Student Center Ballroom, 2200 N. Bonforte Blvd., Pueblo.

Great information on the gap between water supply and demand will be provided along with what the future will look like considering compact calls and potential water projects.

Join Action 22 for the 8th Annual Legislative Day at the Capitol!   Interested in learning more about the Capitol, how bills become law and how to lobby?   Participate in the morning tour at the Capitol Building from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.   Or, you may want to know more about the state’s budget crisis and what you can do.   In that case, you can attend the “Yes, you can balance the budget” workshop which will be held at CML Office Building , 1144 Sherman Street , from 9:30-11:30 am.  This is located about 3 blocks south of the Capitol. 

Following the workshop, we’ll go over to the corner of Grant and 14th First Baptist Church “Miller Hall” -- where the Legislative Luncheon is scheduled.  Maggiano’s Little Italy will be catering the luncheon.  On the speakers schedule are the Senate President Brandon Shaffer and Speaker of the House Frank McNulty.   The entire General Assembly, the Governor and his cabinet and all State Department heads are being invited to attend our Legislative Luncheon.

Wednesday afternoon, February 1, attendees will be greeted by Governor John Hickenlooper and other speakers will be confirmed as the event gets closer.     The session will run from 1:30-4:30 pm in the Old Supreme Court Chambers at the State Capitol.  There is a small café in the basement of the capitol where you can obtain coffee and other items.   However, no food or drink is allowed in the Old Supreme Court Chambers. 

A networking reception is scheduled at the University Club, 1673 Sherman Street , from 5-7 p.m.  The Club is located just two blocks north of the capitol.  The entire General Assembly, the Governor and his cabinet and all State Department heads have been invited to attend this flowing reception.   You may just wish to take a legislator to dinner afterwards.   It is up to you!

  Action 22 is the only regional advocacy organization in southern Colorado .  It is a volunteer-driven membership organization of individuals, cities, communities, counties, associations, businesses and organizations in a 22 county region, banding together to give voice to southern Colorado and in shaping the policies for southern Colorado .   Action 22 represents a 36,530 sq. mile area (35% of the state) consisting of 850,000 citizens, 19.5% of the state’s population.

Action 22 is a unique organization.  Action 22 pulls in individuals, cities, counties, businesses, organizations, corporations and non-profits  from all walks of life to the debate and discussion table.  All perspectives are needed to make well-rounded, well-informed decisions and give voice to southern Colorado .
